Korean electronics company Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, recently launched Samsung UGEO WS80, the latest 5D ultrasound imaging technology designed to provide diagnostic accuracy for antenatal scanning.

Apart from detailed digital accuracy, the UGEO WS80 features ease of use and functions, saves time on current antenatal scanning procedures and gives expecting mothers to retain inborn images of their baby in their mobile devices.

“The UGEO WS80 will set a new standard in ultrasound imaging by delivering faster and safer diagnostic procedures via mobile connectivity and has received overwhelming response from the market even prior to its official launch,” LAC Medical Supplies Sdn Bhd director Liew Yoon Poh said.

LAC Medical, an information technology (IT) distributor company dealing in medical equipment and accessories supplies, is the appointed distributor of the UGEO WS80 in Malaysia.

The company also carries the digital radiography range of equipment and the unveiling of the UGEO WS80 marks the second collaboration between LAC Medical and Samsung.

“Since 2010, Malaysia is one the fastest growing country in healthcare tourism due to the high standards of medical infrastructure, modern technology with internationally recognised experts and last but not least the advantage of being commercially competitive.

“Our goal is to introduce more state-of-art healthcare technologies allowing our people to get treatment in the country instead of travelling abroad and on top of that, encourage travellers seek medical treatment in Malaysia,” he said.

Touching on a topic on modern hospitals in Malaysia in adopting latest and advance technologies, Liew said many hospitals in Malaysia have adopted the latest technologies that greatly enhances diagnostic and treatment standards.

“However, there is still room for improving the workflow and reducing patients’ waiting time and further digitisation of hospitals with digital medical devices and IT systems can possible make us more competitive, especially in attracting foreign patients,” he said.

In promoting the 5D ultrasound in Malaysia, LAC Medical will be collaborating with several hospitals nationwide to provide free 5D antenatal scanning for expecting mothers.

The company currently has five sales and service centres nationwide including Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Malacca, Kuantan, Kuching and will soon launch two new centres in Kuala Terengganu and Johor Baru.
